WHAT ARE ASPECTS?
Aspects are the connecting links between two or more planets
that are determined by the measure of degrees / minutes within
certain defined parameters.
Determining whether the aspect is applying (getting closer) or separating (going away) is a way of measuring the Aspects strength and the duration of its effect. When planets are in aspect they have on-going communication. The aspect angle of separation (conjunct, sextile etc.) describes the particular conversation taking place between the two planets.
Definition: When two planets are in the same degree or close in degrees of longitude.
Parameter: 0-8 degrees, except for Sun & Moon when the parameters are 0-10 degrees.
Example: Jupiter at 9 degrees Sagittarius, Saturn at 11 degrees Sagittarius are 2 degrees apart
and fall within the conjunct parameter of 0-8 degrees.
CONJUNCTION - focus, working together, combined energy, power, emphasis
Below are some of the better known Aspects:
Definition: When two planets are 60 degrees apart.
Parameter: 0-8 degrees.
Example: Jupiter at 9 degrees Sagittarius, Saturn at 11 degrees Aquarius are 62 degrees apart
and fall within the sextile parameter of 0-8 degrees.
SEXTILE - opportunity, attraction, self-expression
Definition: When two planets are 90 degrees apart.
Parameter: 0-8 degrees.
Example: Jupiter at 9 degrees Sagittarius, Saturn at 11 degrees Pisces are 92 degrees apart
and fall within the square parameter of 0-8 degrees.
SQUARE - obstacle, challenge, stress, internal conflict, friction
TRINE - harmony, benefit without effort, creativity, luck, fortunate
Definition: When two planets are 150 degrees apart.
Parameter: 0-5 degrees.
Example: Jupiter at 9 degrees Sagittarius, Saturn at 11 degrees Taurus are 152 degrees apart
and fall within the quincunx parameter of 0-5 degrees.
QUINCUNX - adjustment, expansion, strain, discord, obligation to perform

For instance, if your chart has Jupiter at 9 degrees Sagittarius and Saturn at 11 degrees Sagittarius they would be said to be in a Conjunct Aspect because they are near each other in degree.
