The TOTEM Place
"The time will come
when men such as
I will look on the
murder of animals
as they now look on
the murder of men."
"The soul is the same in
all living creatures,
although the body of
each is different."
This website is an ongoing project.
While Totems can be just about any species, sometimes you don't have to look further than your own backyard for one. Pay attention to what animals come into your environment and make a mental recording of how many times this same animal appears in day to day life. Also, register pictures or text that are brought to your attention through magazines, newspapers, internet sites, and general conversations. If a visual, or other reference, of the totem is fairly frequent then it might be time to "listen up" for messages that could possibly apply to your life situation.
WHAT IS A TOTEM?
As humans, when we truly understand that we are sharing this Earth with everything here, then we are open to the idea that lessons and inspirations are available from other species.
Animals, Birds, Fish & Insects all have their own special story to tell as they teach us about their strengths and weaknesses.
With this newfound knowledge, we are given the information that can help us to grow in a better capacity as a human being and also as a spiritual being.
A Totem then is something that TEACHES, SHARES, BENEFITS, and helps to point out the COMMONALITY between everything that can be seen and heard and also those things that currently remain unseen or unheard.
Totems can become the friends that accompany us on our life journey as we begin to understand and interpret what it actually means to have the presence of these wonderful spirits in our lives.
It is very possible that your Totem is introducing itself to you in a variety of ways. The most obvious is, of course, by its physical presence. Also, it is possible that a sound that the Totem makes will be brought to your attention. Once the totem is known remember to make a note of where and how often it appears.
"It is man's sympathy
with all creatures that
first makes him truly
-- Albert Schweitzer

- What are the physical characteristics of the totem?
- Identify the individual strength and weaknesses?
- Do these traits point out something that you have yet to see or find in yourself - for either positive or negative?
- If the above is perceived as negative, then what can be changed to make this into a positive?
